This programme comprises 7 modules - each diving into a different aspect of people skills. 

Module 1: Leadership

  • Recognise the role that people skills play in leadership, particularly authentic leadership  
  • Define authentic leadership 
  • Identify how your personality is the gateway to authenticity 

Module 2: Your leadership story

  • Identify how an individual's life story constitutes a frame for understanding how leadership and authenticity go hand-in-hand 
  • Relate your own personal story and how it might apply to your leadership and authenticity  

Module 3: Authenticity

  • Identify the different pathways and methods you can use to develop your authenticity 
  • Recognise how your mindset plays a crucial role in developing authenticity within yourself and in how you interact with others 

Module 4: Becoming a true coach

  • Understand the importance of coaching in today's business environment
  • Familiarise yourself with the golden triangle of coaching

Module 5: Setting goals

  • Apply goal-setting principles in setting goals for yourself and others
  • Discover the value of delegation within goal setting

Module 6: Feedback

  • Apply some basic feedback frameworks in delivering feedback to others
  • Recognise the value of the 'feedback curve' for planning your intervention

Module 7: Support

  • Recognise the role of emotions in all aspects of leadership and people skills
  • Develop basic approaches for managing different types of emotions

Programme design 

This online journey brings together learning formats including videos, interviews, exercises, questionnaires and real-life examples. You’ll also have background reading to do and questions to help you reflect on your own experience.
 
In addition, you’ll take part in projects – giving you the opportunity to put theory into practice.
 
You can start Essentials in People Skills at any time – and study wherever and whenever suits you. It takes around 10 to 12 hours to complete the programme and you can split this time over a maximum of three months.
