Essentials in People Skills

This programme comprises 5 modules - each diving into a different aspect of people skills. 

Module 1: Becoming a true coach

• Understand the importance of coaching in today’s business environment.
• Familiarise yourself with the golden triangle of coaching.

Module 2: Setting goals

• Apply goal-setting principles in setting goals for yourself and others
• Discover the value of delegation within goal setting

Module 3: Feedback

• Apply some basic feedback frameworks in delivering feedback to others
• Recognise the value of the 'feedback curve' for planning your intervention

Module 4: Support

• Recognise the role of emotions in all aspects of leadership and people skills.
• Develop basic approaches for managing different types of emotions.

Module 5: your dream team

• Analyse how your own leader behaviours may influence a group’s dynamics.
• Assess the strengths and weaknesses of your team, and identify ways to build towards a collaborative, high-performing “dream team.”

Programme design 

This online journey brings together learning formats including videos, interviews, exercises, questionnaires and real-life examples. You’ll also have background reading to do and questions to help you reflect on your own experience.

You can start Essentials in People Skills at any time – and study wherever and whenever suits you. It takes around 10 to 12 hours to complete the programme and you can split this time over a maximum of three months. 

If you’ve recently started managing people – or if you’re a specialist managing a technical team – this programme gives you the foundations to become a truly authentic and effective leader.
