Smaranda is a Sherpa guide who helps her clients change their world by challenging and supporting them to explore the world within and around.
Currently Associate Professor of Organisational Behaviour at Vlerick Business School, Smaranda has been involved in both university education (Babeş-Bolyai University, Romania; Tilburg University, The Netherlands) and various life-long learning programmes (Babeş-Bolyai University; TIAS Nimbas Business School, The Netherlands and FHR Lim A Po Institute for Social Studies, Suriname). As a consultant, she is specialised in embedded management development interventions.
She obtained her PhD (2007) in Psychology (cum laude) at Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She holds an MA in Human Resource Management (2004), a BA in Psychology (2003) and a BA in Sociology (2004) from Babeş-Bolyai University. She is also certified in group and individual coaching and counselling from the Professional Development Institute BV (The Netherlands), The Tavistock Institute for Human Relations (Great Britain) and the Romanian Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in collaboration with Albert Ellis Institute, New York.
Her research interests focus on team dynamics (especially conflict in teams, group emotional intelligence, team creativity and effectiveness), diversity in teams, gender and management and finally organisational and group identification. She has published papers on these topics in journals such as the British Journal of Management, the British Journal of Social Psychology, the International Journal of Conflict Management, Social Psychology, the Journal of Managerial Psychology, the International Journal of Psychology and Group Dynamics.
