Stijn Viaene


Stijn is passionate about what it means to successfully create a digital enterprise, capturing the value that comes with the use of novel technological advances such as big data, analytics, social media, mobile computing, internet of things and the cloud.

Stijn Viaene is a Full Professor and Partner at Vlerick Business School in Belgium. He is the Director of the school’s Digital Transformation strategic focus area. He is also a Full Professor in the Department Decision Sciences and Information Management at KU Leuven university in Belgium.

Dr Viaene’s research and teaching, in degree, open and executive education, focus on information systems management (ISM) issues in three primary areas: (1) digital innovation and transformation, (2) business and IT alignment, and (3) business process management (BPM). He is involved in multiple research initiatives in collaboration with industry and public sector partners in a variety of industries. His work has been published in renowned journals such as MIT Sloan Management Review, Communications of the ACM, Information and Management, Government Information Quarterly, Journal of Information Technology, European Journal of Operational Research and IEEE IT Professional. Stijn loves writing and teaching with cases.
