Geert Glas

Lecturer of Intellectual Property

Geert Glas specialises in intellectual property (IP) law and is Senior IP Counsel at global law firm, Allen & Overy. Geert has litigated landmark IP cases before the European, Benelux and Belgian courts, and has acted as co-ordinating counsel on several cross-jurisdictional matters. Over the past 20 years, he has been consistently recommended by independent legal directories as a leading lawyer in the areas of IP, ICT and life sciences.

Geert is a former chairman of the Benelux Trademark Association and a former member of the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association. He’s now chairman of the Benelux Council for Intellectual Property (BCIP), which advises the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) on all aspects of IP legislation. He was also appointed by the Belgian Federal Minister of the Economy to the Belgian Council for Intellectual Property. He has advised the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on IP issues and is an accredited WIPO and ICC arbitrator.
