Is an expert in financial management in healthcare, health economics and health financing systems.

Katrien Kesteloot is CFO at UZ Leuven and Full Professor at the Medical School of KU Leuven where she teaches financial management in healthcare, health economics, and health financing systems.

Her academic expertise – both theoretical, as well as empirical – is in health technology assessment and financing systems in healthcare. She has published in diverse international peer reviewed journals.

Katrien served on the advisory board of several healthcare institutions. Between 2014 and 2020, she was an expert advisor for the Belgian Minister of Public Health & Social Affairs on hospital financing. She chairs the board of Emmaüs, a non-profit care group, where she is also member of the audit committee and of the board of the two general hospitals in the group. She was a board member of Aedifica from May 2015 until March 2026.
