This report - developed by the Strategic Talent Management Centre in collaboration with Trustmedia - explores how leadership and team dynamics impact employee engagement, retention, well-being, and job satisfaction. Data from 556 employees show that empowering leadership significantly boosts these outcomes. Strong supervisor-employee relationships and high-quality leadership play crucial roles in enhancing employee experiences. Self-managing teams with high trust and a focus on collective goals also perform well in these areas, suggesting that leadership supports the conditions that enable teams to thrive. By encouraging collaboration within teams, organisations can further improve retention, engagement, and job satisfaction.

The study highlights the significant influence of leadership at all levels. Consequently, organisations looking to improve employee experience should invest in leadership development, equipping leaders with the skills to foster a supportive, empowering environment within teams.
