The Vlerick Masters in International Management & Strategy (MIMS) entered the prestigious Masters in Management ranking of the Financial Times straight into the top 30 worldwide and top 25 in Europe. In Belgium, we hold the No. 1 position. With its 29th place worldwide, our new and innovative Masters programme is also the highest ranking for a new entrant into this ranking. The ranking lists the 100 best Masters in Management programmes all over the world.

  • Ranked 1st in Belgium
  • Ranked 2nd in the Benelux
  • Ranked 24th in Europe
  • Ranked 29th worldwide

A more detailed analysis of the individual criteria in this ranking shows a very positive result for ‘international course experience’ where we hold 2nd place worldwide. Students in the MIMS programme gain significant international exposure during the programme. They spend one month in China, immersed in the Chinese culture and business world, visiting companies and attending lectures in five different cities. At the end of the programme, students spend two months in a different country abroad on a Global Consultancy Project for a company or social-profit organisation. Their challenge is to apply what they have learned during the year to a real business challenge and provide recommendations to the company hosting the project.

Professor Kerstin Fehre, Programme Director of the MIMS: “We invest a lot in creating international career opportunities for our students as well. This year, we are launching a European Strategy Tour in which our MIMS students will be exposed to employment opportunities in various European countries by visiting companies in Germany, The Netherlands and Luxemburg. The purpose of this tour is to give them the opportunity to explore what it really means to work in strategic management positions and show them that those positions and working environments at various companies can be quite different from one another.”

Furthermore, Vlerick scores particularly well on all criteria related to career development. With regard to our Career Services – the way in which we support student recruitment and job search – we rank 12th in Europe. The impact of the MIMS programme also shows on a financial level. The average salary three years after graduation is among the top 34% of the salaries in the ranking. Finally, our alumni also enjoy a significant 60% salary increase between their salary just after graduation and three years later.

This MIMS is specifically aimed at students who aspire to positions in strategy departments or in strategy consulting firms (such as BCG, Bain, and Roland Berger), or management positions in global corporations such as AB Inbev, Amazon and Unilever. The curriculum focuses not only on Strategy and International Management, but also on Data Analytics, Cultural Diversity and Sustainability.

The current cohort counts 45 students from 14 different countries and diverse study backgrounds such as Business, Engineering, Law, Exact Sciences, Pharmacy, etc.
