The NIMAP programme combines a formal general management education with an internship.

As a broad-based general management programme, it covers areas managers need to master to be successful. Two core tracks are included in the curriculum: a leadership track and a business track.

Module 1: the leadership track focuses on:
  • Sharpening your professional management and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Exploring the dynamics of leadership, teamwork and organisational culture and reflecting on your role in building a high-performance team.
  • Gaining valuable insight into your leadership style through a 360° survey.
  • Becoming a more vital leader as an essential component for a successful corporate career.
Module 2: the business track focuses on:
  • Deepening your knowledge of Financial Management, Marketing, Strategy, digital transformation, Innovation, Management Control, Entrepreneurship and Process Management.
  • Acquiring critical knowledge and analytical skills in a variety of management domains.
  • Learning strategic concepts and how to apply them.

The programme comprises 20 days in class spread over September 2018 - April 2019 (see practical info for a full calendar). In addition to these classroom hours, the programme requires academic work between class sessions, including reading and projects.

Throughout the programme we will also include sessions on living and doing business in Belgium. Alongside political science, economics and industrial history, these will focus on issues such as understanding Belgian culture, democracy, norms, gender and diversity and other ethical issues.

In parallel with the educational programme, participants will do an internship in a Belgian-based organisation. The participants are matched to the needs and profiles of the internship companies/organisations.

Acceptance into the programme depends on successful match with an internship company. The internship starts in September 2018 and lasts for 6 months.

The NIMAP programme will broaden your network and introduce you to many other business networks and Vlerick alumni. Participants will be intensively coached during the trajectory and will be assigned a Vlerick coach and a mentor from their internship company. The purpose of this career coaching and mentoring is to ultimately find the right job.
