This programme comprises four modules, each focusing on a different aspect of sustainability management.

Module 1: Balancing purpose and profit

  • Discover how a business founded on purpose can create both profit and social value

Module 2: Framing sustainability and stakeholder engagement

  • Get to know the “sustainability dictionary” – understand terms including ESG, sustainable value creation, scope 1-2-3 emissions, circular economy, philanthropy and more
  • Identify which stage of sustainability your company is in
  • Learn how double materiality and stakeholder engagement can help set sustainability-focused priorities

Module 3: Designing your sustainability strategy

  • Define the role of a sustainability strategy – and understand its importance 
  • Explore the differences between sustainability strategies created at tactical, business unit and corporate level
  • Develop the cornerstones of your sustainability strategy

Module 4: Introducing sustainability reporting

  • Understand why sustainability reporting matters
  • Explore the value of disclosing non-financial, ESG-related information
  • Get to know the main sustainability reporting frameworks

Programme design

Start Essentials in Sustainability Management at any time – and study wherever and whenever suits you. It takes around 8-10 hours to complete the programme, and you have a maximum of three months to go through all the modules. 

It’s an online journey that’s packed with videos, interviews, exercises, questionnaires and real-life examples. You’ll also have background reading to do – and questions to help you reflect on your own experiences.
