How the Covid-19 crisis creates opportunities for a greener and more sustainable Europe
Last December, the European Commission announced the Green Deal to make the European Union carbon neutral by 2050. The European Union has the highest environmental standards and goals and Covid-19 creates enormous opportunities for further reduction of CO2 emission. In a nutshell, the opportunity consists of bringing industry and food production back to Europe and, as a consequence, reduce mobility. That does not mean the end of globalisation, but rather a shift towards a smart and more sustainable globalisation.
In this ‘Business Watcher’ video, Professor David Veredas explains how two aspects of the Green Deal relate to Covid-19: mobility and food systems.
